De jaren twintig

Na de Eerste Wereldoorlog wordt de mode eenvoudig en doelmatig. De vrouwenemancipatie heeft grote invloed op de mode. De nadruk wordt gelegd op bewegingsvrijheid. De kleding van de vrouw is recht en na 1923 wordt de roklengte geleidelijk korter. De taille gaat omlaag tot op de heupen en wordt versierd met een ceintuur of sjerp. Jonge vrouwen dragen wapperende franjejurken, de zogenaamde “flapper dress”. Modedetails zijn: hoofdbanden met veren, helmvormige hoeden, lange zwierige kettingen en veren boa’s of stola’s.
